I love cooking and shopping for food locally.  The Fish Shack in Brancaster Staithe, 5 min from my house, is an old favourite, they have a great selection of fresh fish, pates, mayonnaise, and fruit and veg. My latest discovery is their new Garlic prawn pate. Amazing!

I’ve been to India this month to visit our factory and select stones for my S/S’12 collections. What an amazing trip! So wish I could have stayed there longer as I had to pack an awful lot into a few days – never easy in such a fantastic place!

The absolute highlight of my trip was the chance to visit a small orphanage. It was incredibly moving and made me realise how lucky I am to have my wonderful daughter.

India is such a vibrant place – I find myself inspired everywhere I look. The country is naturally alive in its very essence; the bright colours, local craft work and street shrines, to the wonderful textures and smells on every corner.  I love simply wandering around the markets and taking in the local sights and sounds. I would encourage anyone to visit if they can!

Next on my wishlist for places to visit has to be China. I’m determined to go there when I have time to take everything in, although with such a busy year ahead of us, I don’t expect that will be any time soon!

Monica's postcard - Norfolk

I’m at home at the moment, enjoying the fresh Norfolk air and beautiful landscape. The above photo is taken in my garden with my darling daughter Scarlett taking centre stage!

People often ask me where I find the inspiration for my designs. On weekends like this, the answer is simple: the magnificent English countryside.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit some of the world’s most glamorous locations which of course inspire the more vibrant and exotic qualities of of my pieces, but their real simplicity and natural beauty stems from right here on the British coast.

I can’t help but add a touch of ‘home’ to my work. I hope you agree that that’s no bad thing.
